The fact this party takes place on my birthday pisses me off. Sisters of any hue, do you! It's a Libra celebration type of month!! (see if I invite THEM to the bash of the S-I-X. Whateva.) :-D
they had the promoter on Russ Parr this morning, and he was saying that he had several other parties, one called the "Chocolate Celebration" and one called "mix it up" i don't know...its a mess...and the point that the show made was that there is enough separation/segration that we have to deal with why continue to "buy into" the whole thing...
its really sad because even at the end of the segment i still dont' think that he "got it" you know, it was like "i have taken this club from 15 people to 500 people..."
I don't think that having a party for dark-skinned chicks makes up for this. Just because you have parties with different skin-toned themes and you "mix it up" does not mean that doing something like this isn't in poor taste.
It's kinda silly to even try to justify it that way. That's like a murderer saying I killed this guy, but I got my girl pregnant the same day to make up for it.
And I agree that there's enough separation already. That's the type of dumb shyt people should not even go to. Even if the girl on the flier is kinda cute (LOL).
This is what happens when dudes get so caught up in making money and having a "name" as a popular promoter. This is really just lots of free publicity for him and ignorant folks are still going to go and party it up at his joints. Rather than thinking about the bigger picture. This whole situations (to me) hints a lot at how selfish people are in general and they think about themselves moreso than anything else. He wants to make money, so he doesn't care if this is helping divide his people. And people are so pressed to party that they'll go this and not think about how their helping to further dumbazz dissension among our people.
They did the same thing on auction blocks in Jamestown, Savannah, and Richmond, but that was a century-and-a-half ago. I'm sad to see we're doing it to ourselves in Detroit.
I swear my people have no damn clue... I don't give a shit if they were having a party for purple people the following week... This just crazy and I am happy it was canceled
