Fox News is so full of it...

So now Fox News wants to jump on the post-racial bandwagon after they've played the elitist race card up until the point when a Black president is a reality? Give me a break! Ignorance permeates so much of the racial discourse on Fox News it's almost laughable.

Nevertheless, "my President is Black but his house is all white!" What it seems that some people don't understand is that when we say this it's not to say "eff people that aren't Black" or more specifically "eff white people", it's a way of saying that we are proud that someone who looks like US and can relate to us is able to be in Barack's position. Why is it that when Blacks start coming together and showing our pride everyone else seems to get scared, worried, or overly-analytical. All-of-a-sudden it's this big problem. No, it's not! We might have a Black President but in the big scheme of things we're still the have-nots. Racism is still alive. And we still have to work twice as hard. But Barack is a beacon of hope for many that in our lifetimes we will no longer be the have-nots and that racism will decline (if not end), and the playing field will be even. So when you hear "My President is Black" you might want to interpret that as "My President gives me HOPE!"

And for those who will undoubtedly say "But he's not just black..." it's obvious that they are missing the point.

And here's some previous (related) effery from Fox News vis-á-vis Bill O'Reilly and Dennis Miller.

This is so typical FAUX news, and how the hell is it that they have an Asian chic reporting on this, as if she can really speak for young African-Americans in the hip-hop generation.

As the late great Bernie Mac would say, "FUGG EM! Up against the wall, with handcuffs on, and glue on their lips!!!"

When the Asian chick pronounced Nas's name the wrong way I completely lost it and went off on my computer.

"they" kill me commenting on things that aren't their business and intruding on private discourse. clearly, white folks aren't chanting in unison about their pres being black. duh, blondie! i mean, while they may feel a sense of pride that our country can transcend color to chose the best leader, yata yata... they surely aren't feeling the pride that african-americans are feeling. and they never will be able to do so.

first off... there isn't a single "racist" line in these lyrics. racism has the innate implication of power/privilege of the offender. um, last i checked, negros still have none of that. until we do, this is still categorized as "revolution." i don't care if jay & bey are one of the wealthiest power houses in entertainment. the fact is it's still in entertainment which is the proverbial box in which we've always been put. not good enough to come in the front and have a drink but we were the main attraction at the cotton club for years. (i digress...)

second off... (again) i'd like to remind us all that the "feel good kumbaya" only exists in the minds of those that believe that the dream has manifested and the struggle to overcome racial inequalities is over. all things are NOT right with the world, folks. news-effing-flash. it's just beginning.

It's just the beginning is right. I agree with everything you said.

I'm not sure what post-racial is supposed to mean but I do know that race is still an issue.
