Examining Rick Ross-isms: All I Really Want

I still get a kick out of the above picture.

Ross enlists The (American) Dream for this track. I'm a fan of The Dream and at this point he's one of those go-to guys for hip-hop hooks (like T-Pain) so I expected this track to be decent at the very least. It doesn't disappoint and for that reason I can be caught walking around the crib singing "All a ni99a really want is YOU!"...RADIO KILLAAAAAAAAAAA!

All I Really Want - Rick Ross (feat. The Dream)

Actually, before I start re-treading Ross's verses/lines I want to say that I really am entertained by the confidence with which Officer Ricky makes statements about his sexual prowess. It makes me laugh to think that Ross could even fathom that the general public would find 93.6% of this stuff believable. Back to the show...

Met in D.C. like 'Go Barack!': SICED me!!!

Girl drunk it like a Fiji then she blowed my socks: See what I mean about him saying things that make no sense but rhyme? Blowed my socks? Translation: Ross likes the feeling of wet socks on his feet.

Might let her sit it on my mustache/But [???] now and then again it make her bust fast: I'm really interested in knowing what part I missed in the ???'d spot above. It sounds like he either said maybe or baby. What's hilarious about this to me is that you can look at Rick Ross and NEVER even think about the fact that he does have a mustache because his beard is so gigantic. He seems like the type of guy that would have a "flavor saver" though (if you know what I mean).

Oh YESSIR!

This.Is.My.Shyt!

This video has an "I Wanna Rock With You" vibe to it. Nothing special about it other than that really. Also, is it just me or is The Dream suspect?

Nevertheless, I effs with his music.

Another shyt-sammage from Ron Browz???

Actually, this latest Ron Browz track isn't as bad as the last one. Just for the record, I think Pop Champagne is crap. Jumping Out the Window was a second step in the wrong direction. This one, Windin' On Me, is somewhat better than the last one because this beat is much harder than either of the first two.

Yet-and-still I have yet to figure out why people enjoy any of these Ron Browz tracks other than the remix to Pop Champagne when he pops champagne "for Barack's campaign." Isn't it bad enough that Ron is trying to jack his style from someone (T-Pain) who jacked his style from someone (Roger Troutman, RIP)? Dude is literally like the poor man's T-Pain which says quite a bit.

Ron Browz has the unexpected effect of making me like T-Pain much more than I would otherwise. And I would even go so far as to say that enjoying T-Pain more has caused me to enjoy The Dream more (even though I have liked him from day one, unlike Teddy Pinned-her-azz-Down).

And just in case you're wondering who the hell Ron Browz is, here you go...

Dude's claim to fame up until the Pop Champagne joint was being the guy who produced Nas's song, Ether (which is why he yells "Ether boy" all the time). Ether was a SICK track undoubtedly but after releasing these songs I think Ron should stick behind the boards.

Not surprisingly, it looks like Cook Coke Crack is trying to jump on yet another trend (remember him on Khaled's bangers?) to make himself halfway relevant again. On the real, Fat Joe's last album was pretty decent I'm not gonna front. But it's so obvious that he tries to jump on everything that he thinks people think is hot for the moment. I guess he'll be making a rock album soon.

To my chagrin it looks like Ron Browz is going to continue dropping these lackluster club tracks. More power to him I guess. I'll just have to continue shaking my head every time I hear one of these sounds blasting through the club speakers. Blame it on the Goose...(LOL, now THAT is my you-know-what)

P.S. - The hottest thing on the InterWeb right now comes from none other than Ricky Mothereffing Rawwwws Officer William Leonard Roberts, called Mafia Music.

More Music

Usher - Love You Gently

This shyt right here! This shyt RIGHT HERE! The boy did his thing on this joint.

Common (ft. Skateboard P) - Universal Mind Control

Somebody told Common to "go head switch the style up/if nikkahs hate then let em hate, just watch the money pile up". This is a different look for Common but I actually like it since it shows some of his versatility. I'm still trying to wrap my head around what he's actually talking about though. Let me listen again....

Plies (ft. Jamie Foxx and The Dream) - Please Excuse My Hands

I don't really understand why Plies has been making so many "love" songs for the ladies but I guess that's his niche now. That might be the best business model for him though considering conscious gangsta rap (ie - "100 Years") does not sell as well as LL Cool J style rap. Ya'll know what I mean. I like Plies as a more gangster-ish rapper. His voice sounds a bit too country over these soft beats for me, but I guess these particular tracks aren't targeted at me anyway sooooo....

Mickey Factz - Good Money

I have been hearing a lot on the InterWeb about Mickey and his "The Leak" mixtape. The premise is that he leaks a track a day. I downloaded The Leak Volume 1 but I never listened and he's already got 3 tracks released for the second volume. I only listened to this track because of the 9th Wonder production and this shyt is kinda FIRE. Now I think I'm going to go back and listen to that mixtape.

Bloodraw (ft. Jeezy and Rick Ross) - Chevy Boyz

Bloodraw is a member of Jeezy's CTE crew and I might be the only person north of Atlanta that actually likes this dude. But I couldn't care less. I enjoy this guy's music even though he talks about the same stuff Jeezy talks about but in a wierd voice. But I also like Jeezy so go figure. As for Bloodraw...Is he a great lyricist? No. Is his flow on-point? Not really. Does he have anything that sets him apart from other trap-rappers? No. Yet-and-still, I have effed with Mr. Florida since his Gangsta Grillz mixtape, "Indictment Papers". Hopefully Blood steps his lyricism up a bit but keeps it gutter. In the meantime, I'm adding Chevy Boyz to my "Rider Music" playlist.

The Fixxers - Worldwide AM

I liked them the first time I heard them on "Can You Work With That" and they keep my attention on this one. The production is really what I love about this song (I assume it's DJ Quik).

"It goes Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama..."

gotcha....

And you thought this post was gonna be on some ole' politrix ish. Didn't you?

Needless to say, this is one of my favorite songs right now. Aiiiiiii! A-a-aiiiii!

I would have never heard this if it wasn't for G-Unit re-doing it on the Elephant in the Sand Mixtape. G-Unit's version is wild. But funny. LOL.
