Tyler Perry: Daddy's Little Girls

It's good to see Stringer Bell didn't completely disappear after Season 3 of The WIRE. I'm sure the ladies will agree with me on that one (LOL).

Check out the trailer for his (actually, Tyler Perry's) new movie, Daddy's Little Girls

It looks like this movie is going to be a good one. Something for the ladies (Stringer)...Something for the fellas (Gabrielle Union)...And it appears there will be a good storyline that black families and black men specifically, can learn from.

More info on the movie
Question: Why do I still call this dude Stringer when I know his real name? Does everyone do this?

Speaking as a man: Why NOT?

Speaking as a movie fan: Why not? She's a well-known actress who'll draw in the demographic they are seeking. Her attractiveness compliments Stringer's handsomeness well. She's a good actress.

Well I think that the movie is going to be extremely positive and powerful...and I can't wait to see it...
I am with JAC though...why not Sanaa...or Regina....or Nia...but hey Imma see it regardless....

No one has answered my question. Why not Gabrielle Union? Does she suck as an actress? Do you just not like her?

I don't get it.

TIFF do you mean Ragina as in Regina King....SHE SUCKS!!!! How dare you place her above Gabrielle. Okay I'm calm now. LOL.

But I agree with Mike...Why not Gabrielle Union? I would prefer Sanaa though.

Dane...WTF? Regina sucks! Man, you are LUNCHING!

I'm really interested in seeing what their reasoning is.

I don't know if its just that she is overrated...I think that when she came out, it was her, her, and more her...you know...

i think she is attractive and seems to be aiight when she speaks...she has some sense to her (although some of her "views" have been OFF the HOOK...but whatever)

...its just something about her, or the fact that I have seen her so much in the last what 5-6 years...that I am just ready to see someone else...she isn't the worse, but let's be honest she isn't the best either...I feel the same way about Halle (attractive, smart, but something about her is just OFF...to me)...

I really would have LOVED to see Sanaa or Nia in her role I think that would have been really nice. I think there are other Black actress out there that are better than her...

and Regina King does NOT suck Dane....lol....

I just think that she has been in SO much, I would just rather see someone else, someone less known even...

but that's just me

I can respect that.

I don't go out to see most of these super-black movies because I think it was really overkill with the black movies at one point in terms of how they recycled cast members and themes/spin-offs and kept putting them out. So I just stopped going to see them after like Love and Basketball.

So maybe Gabrielle doesn't bother me for that reason. Sanaa and Regina King had their time when they were all over the place as well though. And I think that Nia Long just does her right now.

To each his own, I guess. I think that regardless of who the leading lady is, I'd want to see this movie as a black male.

Sorry it took so long for me to answer, but t.c. said it all. I'm tired of seeing her face. She's always playing the same role. Where is Nia? Or how about some fresh faces like the ladies in 'Madea's Family Reunion'? There has to be another actress that they could have chose. I mean give someone else a break.

Thanks JAC. Deep down, I knew and was hoping you ladies weren't just hating like I be doin' (LOL).

Keep in mind though, that directors do specifically ask for certain actors/actresses in certain cases. Like they'll send a script to an actor that they want to be in a film and let the actor decide if he/she wants the role. So that could be the case. Just something to keep in mind. And in the big scheme of things, a closed mouth don't get fed.

Personally, I'd like to have seen Paula Patton playing that role. Personally speaking on behalf of me, myself, and Dane. LOL

I feel what you are saying, at one time there was just a slew of "black movies" out there...but I don't think NO ONE was out there more than Ms. Gabby...

Glad to know you give us more credit than that...its never hating from this end...and like I said before Imma see it regardless its one of those films that NEEDS to be seen...

Maybe it's just me but wasn't Nia just as bad as Gabrielle Union back in her day? I mean it was only her and Regina King back in the early 90's....that's it!!! (yeah it's late but I been busy)
